Today, more than ever, pets have become important members of our family. When our pets are sick or injured, we want the best care possible for them. The Emergency Veterinary Hospital provides compassionate, high-quality emergency care for pets, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our hospital is staffed at all times by skilled doctors and technicians, capable of handling the most complicated and demanding emergencies anytime. Quality patient care and client satisfaction are our top priorities. Our commitment to providing you and your pet with the most advanced veterinary medical diagnostics and treatment, in a caring, compassionate atmosphere, is second to none.
At Emergency Veterinary Hospital, we understand that a medical emergency can be a frightening experience for you and your family. Our goal is to provide your pet with the best medical care and make this experience as easy for you as possible. Since all of the hospital staff members are pet owners themselves, we understand the love you have for your pet. Each pet seen at the hospital receives the utmost veterinary care and attention from the time he or she comes into the hospital until the time he or she leaves. Additionally, we encourage you to visit your pet during his or her stay, as the positive results of a reunited pet and owner help speed up the recovery process.

Laboratory
The Emergency Veterinary Hospital opened its doors in 1978. It grew out of a two-fold need in the community. First, pet owners needed a quality emergency hospital. Secondly, veterinarians in the Springfield / Eugene area needed a high-quality resource to which they could refer emergency cases when their offices were closed. They also needed a facility that provided overnight supervision and monitoring for their critically ill patients.
In 2006, Dr. McConnell and Dr. Kessler purchased the Emergency Veterinary Hospital. Since then, the hospital has expanded its hours. We are now always open, so you can count on us anytime. The hospital has been partially remodeled and new instruments and equipment have been purchased. Even though the hospital has undergone some changes and has considerably more patients than it had in 1978, Drs. McConnell and Kessler have not lost touch with the original goals of the founding veterinarians: to provide clients and their pets with outstanding emergency medical care and service 24 hours a day.
The Emergency Veterinary Hospital is open days, nights, weekends and holidays. Appointments are not necessary and you do not need to be referred by another veterinarian. It's comforting to know that we're here for you and your pet 24 hours a day.

When you and your pet arrive at the hospital, the attending veterinarian performs a thorough examination of your pet. After the examination, you are informed about your pet's medical condition. While some pets can be treated and released the same day, other must be admitted for further tests and stabilization. Patients with life-threatening illnesses or injuries are admitted to the hospital for close monitoring and life support measures. Whether your pet has a minor or major medical problem, we provide him or her with the best possible care. We are devoted to providing a caring environment that treats pets and people with dignity, kindness and respect.
The Emergency Veterinary Hospital offers the best in medical technology to our patients. Advanced technology gives our doctors and trained staff members the necessary tools to provide the best possible care. Oxygen support, blood pressure monitoring, transfusions, ECG, incubators, radiology and fully-equipped surgery suites with complete anesthetic monitoring capabilities, to mention just a few, are ready for providing the best care and diagnostics for your pet. Our complete in-house laboratory, staffed by certified technicians, can measure more than 80 values, with results often available in just a few minutes. This allows us to treat your sick or injured pet as quickly as possible. Having an in-house lab also means that our patients can be routinely monitored throughout their stay, allowing for immediate treatment adjustments as needed.
