Leadership Team

Mary Lawson

Senior Hospital Administrator

Mary was born and raised in the very small town of Triangle Lake, Oregon and attended the same school K-12 with a total of only 150 kids.

Mary went into banking immediately after graduation and worked in that industry for 15 years, starting at Siuslaw Bank then Pacific Continental Bank and enjoyed the world of finance. When given the opportunity to join the team at Emergency Veterinary Hospital, Mary immediately fell in love with the industry. It was certainly a change in scenery!

When Mary’s not working she loves to hang out with her husband, three grown children, and of course their dogs, ESPN (Schnoodle), Blitz (Chiweenie), and Fumble (Bearded Dragon). Mary’s hobbies also include traveling, flying, and skydiving! She loves the outdoors and the Pacific Northwest.

Angele Mort

Assistant Hospital Administrator

Originally from Canada, Angèle has lived in multiple provinces and states over the years. She has always had an interest in learning about and caring for animals, which resulted in previous jobs including kennel technician, aquatics and reptile specialist, and manager of several different pet stores. Upon deciding that she missed the West Coast, she moved from Illinois to Oregon in 2008. An ad in the local paper led her to apply for a job at the Emergency Veterinary Hospital, and she has been here ever since. Angèle is Fear Free and Radiograph certified, and her previous roles at the clinic include Client Service Representative, Veterinary Assistant, and Client Service Manager. She loves the energy of emergency medicine and the opportunity it provides to keep learning.

Angèle lives with her husband, two daughters, three dogs, and a tortoise. She is an avid aquarist and gamer who enjoys spending time with her family and writing fantasy novels/short films.

Katy Moore

CVT/Technician Manager

Born and raised in Eugene, Oregon Katy grew up with having dogs and horses as part of family life, competing in 3 day eventing as a teenager. Obsessed with reality TV in the 90’s, she saw an episode of Emergency Vets on Animal Planet in 1998 and while enthralled with the show she saw a commercial for the Bel Rea Institute of Animal Technology Veterinary Technician Program, located in Colorado. She had always wanted to experience what life was like in Colorado and jumped at the opportunity to pursue her passion caring for animals.

Katy made the move and earned her A.A.S. and Veterinary Technician certification in 2 years with honors in 2001 at Bel Rea. Continuing her adventure in Colorado, she began her career in Emergency Veterinary Medicine for 10 years before making the decision to return to her Oregon roots in Eugene. In August 2011, Katy was hired as a CVT to work in the ER at the Emergency Veterinary Hospital of Springfield. Additionally, she has worked in C.V.T. capacity in Dentistry as well as Internal Medicine where she fell in love with advanced radiology, becoming qualified and proficient in performing abdominal ultrasound scans. Katy has continually challenged her growth path in veterinary medicine, joining the EVH leadership team in 2022 by taking the reigns as Technician Department Manager and is currently pursuing her VTS in Emergency and Critical Care.

On the home front, Katy’s husband is a former Certified Veterinary Technician, they have 2 daughters, a pit bull named Rhino, 2 cats Colby-Jack and Berry Blue and have recently added 2 rabbits and 4 chickens to their urban farm. Besides being a Mom and working, Katy enjoys skiing/snowboarding, traveling, and camping.

Kyah S.

Veterinary Assistant Supervisor/Scheduling Coordinator

Kyah was born in Linn County, Oregon and lived there for several years as a youngster until 8 years of age, moving with her family across the country living in several different states. Between the ages of 8 and 16, she resided in Nevada, Alaska, and eventually South Carolina. At the age of 16, Kyah found herself moving back to her home state of Oregon, where she began college 2 years early after receiving her GED. She was always the kiddo who found and brought home stray dogs, kittens, and any animals in need who crossed her path. Naturally she has always had an interest in animals and their well-being.

Kyah began her journey shortly thereafter in veterinary medicine, working part-time in a mixed animal general practice while attending an accelerated veterinary technician program, but her major during college remained undecided and frequently changed. After several years of working at a general practice and completing several internships, Kyah decided to try out emergency medicine and began her career at the Emergency Veterinary Hospital of Eugene-Springfield in February of 2011. She fell in love with the unpredictability of emergency medicine and has remained at EVH where her role is constantly growing and evolving. Kyah currently serves as the Veterinary Assistant Team Supervisor and Patient Care Team Scheduling Coordinator as well as working the treatment room floor as Shift Lead and Charge Nurse. Kyah’s knowledge, experience and skills have made her an integral part of the EVH Leadership Team.

Outside of work, Kyah enjoys spending time with her family, kids, and animals which include 4 dogs, 3 cats, a couple of horses, 100+ chickens and various fowl she raises. She enjoys anything and everything outdoors such as gardening, fishing, horseback riding, camping, and working on old American made muscle cars and trucks.

Amanda H.

Client Service Supervisor

Amanda was born in Eureka, California and has lived in different cities throughout California, Nevada and Arizona before moving to Eugene in 2009.

Amanda comes primarily from a security background but has always had a love for animals. She joined the EVH team in March of 2021 and knew she was in the right place.

Outside of work Amanda loves to spend time with her husband, son and her dog Merle (Aussiedoodle). Amanda’s hobbies include reading, cooking, gardening, canning, and making soaps, lotions, and salves.

Kaela A.

Shift Lead/Senior Veterinary Assistant

Kaela is a Eugene local driven by her unwavering passion for animals and their well-being. She joined the Emergency Veterinary Hospital team very early in her veterinary medicine career. With the help of her co-workers and the DVMs she has built her confidence and knowledge base to become a senior veterinary assistant and shift lead.

She has a special interest in advanced imaging, surgery, and educating others. She thrives in the bustling atmosphere of emergency medicine and is excited to continue making a difference in the lives of pets and their owners at Emergency Veterinary Hospital.

When not on shift she is often home with her husband, her great pyrenees mix, Triss, and her three cats, Tupsa, Corvus and Ginkgo. Her hobbies include kayaking, reading, sewing, leather work, and video games.

Rebecca R.

Shift Lead/CVT

After volunteering for 5 years at a cat sanctuary in California, Rebecca joined the EVH team in 2011, earning her CVT license in 2013 and eventually was promoted to Shift Lead where she is a primary force behind our weekday crew and a highly valued member of the EVH Leadership team. While at EVH, she also worked towards her degree and graduated from the University of Oregon in 2020. Rebecca enjoys all aspects of veterinary care but thoroughly enjoys the pace of emergency medicine, continually honing her skills, learning new treatments and techniques and helping educate her co-workers. Rebecca is a trusted leader and highly respected member of the EVH team, nominated for employee of the quarter several times by her peers and direct reports alike for her outstanding contributions to the staff, the hospital and most importantly – our patients and clients.

On her days off, Rebecca can be found spending time with family and friends. She enjoys cooking, gardening, canning and listening to true crime podcasts. Rebecca has two senior dogs, a lab/pit mix and a shepherd/akita mix (but also is a definite “cat person” at heart!).

Marcia J.

Client Service Shift Lead

Marcia joined the EVH team in spring of 2022 in the role of Client Service Representative, learning everything about emergency veterinary medicine that she could soak up! Jumping into the veterinary industry was ideal – Marcia has been involved with helping with her local family rescue for quite some time, particularly enjoying the aspect of helping reconnect lost pets with their owners. By spring of 2023, Marcia was promoted to Client Service Shift Lead where she continues to apply her decades of experience in customer service, supporting the needs of the EVH team as well as our clients and patients.

Marcia is an awesome gardener in her free time, growing many types of plants. When EVH moved into the new facility, it was Marcia who engaged her green thumb, setting up the planters in our lobby, choosing the plants, and helping create such a wonderful setting for our clients! Marcia has 2 adult daughters with 3 “grand” dogs and 2 “grand” cats as well as loving her own crew of furry kids, Kyro, Nala and Faith. As a true Oregonian, you may find Marcia riding the dunes at the coast on her Honda 4-wheeler, hiking trails, camping, chasing waterfalls and enjoying the abundance of outdoor activities that we enjoy here in Oregon.
